How cruel can a mother could be?

Recently, i read in the newspaper online where there is a sad story of a three years old girl who has been found dead by her mother after went home from work on 12th October 2009.

The girl had been brutally abused and raped by her mother's boyfriend who is from Sudan. Sadly, the mother tried to keep the truth from reveal and to protect her boyfriend by saying that her daughter is being abused by her maid who had just run away.

The police suspected something and found out that the women who is working as a secretary has not employ any maid that is said to be run away to be hiding the truth from the police and had made a false statement in the report.

Her boyfriend that is from Sudan is said to enter the country by a student visa and had been studied in a private college in Malaysia for a month only.

The police also suspected something after the autopsy that the girl has another injury at her private part of the body.After the police suspected of a cruel murder, they went to the suspect house on 13th October 2009 and after they found some evidence, both of the suspect is brought to Police headquarter Daerah Kajang for more investigation. Both of them admit that they had abused the child that ends with death of the child.

From the newspaper report that I just mentioned, I realize that a person can changed to become a different person that we know. Like in the case above where a mother can become so cruel and just follow her boyfriend needs and desire. How could she just do that? Is the love for her daughter has just fade away? But, for me how come the love for our own child that we had give birth before can just fade away because of the new existing person called BOYFRIEND?

In my opinion, a mother would not do something like that to their own child. There might be something wrong to their brain if they could do something like that to their child. Or maybe they are insane and have a deep depression that leads them to have a mental disorder.

I feel sorry for the child. I hope that the murderer will be punished as what to they have done.

ALSA Malaysia National Forum on Labour 2009

Since the title is long and i bet it is brief enough for all of you to guess what is it all about right?

Well, the National Forum was held last week on 10th October 2009 (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The venue was at Dewan Anuwar Mahmud (DAM) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and it was organised by Asian Law Students' Association, National University of Malaysia.

I was also involve in this event where I am under the Marketing department. My task given by my head department was to find sponsorship for this event. I am together with Kirubini divided our task to two parts. We need to call law firms to ask for their kindness to sponsor our event. But before that we need to email the sponsorship letter and the proposal of this event to the alumni listed by our head department. The day after we email, we need to confirm to them that we had email them the sponsorship letter and the proposal of our event.

Two weeks after that, we had our ALSA meeting and all the first year are welcome to come to the event. However, during the event was held, most of the students are not free as they have their co-curriculum simulation. So it a bit disappointed as there are only a few audience to hear the forum was about.

There are 3 slot in the forum. I did not manage to hear the first forum as I got my co-curriculum class that morning. So, I came late and I only hear for the 2nd and the 3rd slot of the forum. All of this slot was about Labour. I barely can not understand the content of the forum as I am not really understand what they were talking about. But, at the 3rd slot, it was interesting where we had to watch a video on labour exploitation. There are three victims. One is from Indonesia, one from The Philippines and another one is from Thailand. The video was aired at MTV before in a program called MTV Exit. To summarize, all of this victim did not know what is their job is all about. Once they have been brought to the working place, they realize that the place was like a hell to them. As for the victim from Indonesia, she knows that she will be working as a maid at a condominium in Singapore. But sadly, her employer is a bad man where she was kept being harassed and tortured. She is force to work from 5 a.m. till 11 p.m. everyday. She said that she just want to commit suicide since she cannot bare any longer the suffer that she's being through. But lucky her that she manage to get some help and she was brought back to Indonesia.

Same goes to the Philippines, the girl was a fresh high school graduates. She wants to enter college but their family cannot afford the expense. So she ask her neighbour help to find her a job. Sadly, her neighbour cheat her and she was brought into a place to work as a prostitute. She said that she was a virgin that time and it is painful. She was forced to do the dirty job and she kept cryingwhen she remembered the nightmare. Lucky her to be saved and now she live as a normal life she had before. As for the Thailand victim, he and his wife was forced to work for 19 hours a day to peel the prawn. They was forced to do the job without any payment. If they asked for their salary they will be kicked and punch and their boss said that they will be work thare until their debt is paid. He said it was like hell and he thanks to God as he was now released after 2 years working there and now he and his wife was working in a ne factory with a better life.

From the forum, I realize that some of us misused their power as employers and they just forced their workers as they think they own them. But, lucky them as they have their rights in the society as some of them know where to seek some help if they have been victimized. So remember to uphold their rights as a human being. They are just workers who need rest like us as well.

Free toll ride during Raya Celebration.

It has been almost six days of Raya's celebration.

Recently, the government had put their initiative to encourage the road users to travel using the highways. The East Coast Expressway can drive toll free from September 18 to September 24 from midnight to 5am. According to this report, the toll-free hours are applicable to all classes of vehicles, including commercial vehicle. Users can saved up to RM29 in toll for a one-way trip using the East Coast Expressway.

I am impressed with this initiative by the government to help the citizen to reduce the toll money as people especially the Muslims had spent lot of money for the Raya celebration. People who are travelling less hour and less kilometer might not care about this as they only spent lesser money on toll compared to the people who are travelling far from their homes to their hometown like from south to north.

However, during that period of time which is from midnight to 5 am, there are only few road users as it is not the best time to travel. The user usually travel during day time as during the night time it is dark and it has lots of obstacle to travel. Besides, during that period of time, it usually rain and it makes the journey to become more difficult. Another factor that discourage the road user to travel at night is the sleepy factor. Besides, this period is reported to have a high accidents rate due to drivers fatigues, drowsiness and other factors as well.

So, despite of this initiative, the government may also provide another way such as giving discounts of toll rates during the peak hours.

In conclusion, I think the government had put their initiative to help the citizens during this festive season but there are more to improve as toll free rides during midnight to 5 am has it pros and cons. So, the government should done their initiatives well by taking other matters as well before they continue with their project especially at the festive season.

Degree in Law

Now, we are in week seven and we will be reaching week eight this monday. For this past seven weeks, I still can't cope well in my studies. I found myself to be blur during lecture. But, luckily sometimes I can do well in tutorials but it was still not good enough as sometimes I'm a bit blur and suddenly panick where I couldn't recall any words and phrases in my brain when answering the lecturers question during tutorials.

At first when I was accepted by National University of Malaysia, I was so happy. My family also felt happy for me. After the registration day, my father brought me to lunch and the whole family left me to go home. I was quite sad as I am apart of my family. But I know, in order to succeed I need to sacrifice something.

In UKM, I am glad that I got many new friends that is multiracial. Although that I am from UiTM Shah Alam doing my foundation in Law, I like UKM better than UiTM. At my first time entered a class, we have been told by the lecturer that UKM use different format to value their students achievement. 60 percent is from on-going assessment where it consist of test, tutorials and the last four to three weeks, we would have our final presentation. The final examination only contribute 40 percent. This is very different to UiTM where 60 percent is final examination while 40 percent is on-going assessment throughout the semester.

So, now I am going and will be studying hard and smart so that I would not dissappointed my family, lecturers and even myself. Once I had entered and start to read law, I know that I must go on and never turning back and I must finish my study in the 2013.
