Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor

If u ask who is the person that I respect and adore to, without the least hesitation, I will say Dr.Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor, the astronaut of Malaysia. He was the first Malaysian to go into space. He was launched to the International Space Station aboard Soyuz TMA-11 with the Expedition 16 crew on October 10 ,2007. Sheikh Muszaphar flew under an agreement with Russia through the Angkasawan program, and returned to Earth on October 21,2007, aboard Soyuz TMA-10 with the Expedition 15 crew members.

Dr sheikh Muszaphar was born in KL and attended high school at Maktab Rendah Sains MARA in Muar. He then earned a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery degree from Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, India. He was also pursuing his masters of Surgery in Orthopaedic Surgery at UKM when he joined the ‘Angkasawan’ programme. In 1998, Dr Sheikh Muzaphar worked at Hospital Seremban, followed by move to Kuala Lumpur General Hospital in 1999, and was on staff at Hospital Selayang from 2000 through 2001.

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar performed experiments on board the International Space Station relating to the characteristics and growth of liver cancer and leukemia cells, the crystallisation of various proteins and microbes in space. The experiments relating to liver cancer, leukemia cells and microbes will benefit general science and medical research while the experiments relating to the crystallisation of proteins, lipases in this case, will directly benefit local industries.

I have an opportunity to meet him during my orientation week in UKM. Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor was came to give us a speech. He expose his experience and some information in the space through the videos. There are many funny incident during his spacelight. For example, he need to “grab” his food when he having meals because the food were wave in the space due to the inexistence of gravitation. He gave us a lot of motivation through his speech and he hope that we can contribute to our country in the future.

Dr Sheikh Muszaphar’s speech had gave me enlightenment that we should make great efforts to pursue our dreams. There is nothing are impossible except you do not want to do it!

Homosexuality in Malaysia

Recently, the problem of homosexuality are spread widely among teenagers in our country. Who would have guessed, 50 years after Merdeka this kind of public showing of affection can happen. Never thought it could be this infectious. One could only wonder what could actually happen when they are behind a closure. Homosexuality is outlawed in Malaysia, but that is not going to stop a gay and lesbian affectively, guide from attempting to spice up the supposedly hot gay and lesbian scene in Malaysia. The guide in question is the Utopia Guide to Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia, and is the first of such guides for these countries given their stance against homosexuality. Not surprisingly, the editor of Utopia Guides hopes that it will foster greater acceptance of homosexuality in these countries.

But the more interesting thing is that the guide claims that Malaysian has the hottest gay scene going ( based on surveys conducted from Singapore), even though Islam is the primary religion in Malaysia, and Islam is not supportive of homosexual relationships. In fact, gay sex is punishable by jail in Malaysia. Gay bars in Malaysia such as Liquick, just behind Central Market, are well-known.This scene has shows us that the morality in the society was destructively.

From the look of it, they are still in school and aged aroung 18-20 years olds. Anyhow, this is the reality of life in Malaysia. It seems identity lost problems have been quite common. Who should we blame?

There are many factors cause this problems. The main factor is the problem of the teenagers themselves. Homosexuality is a kind of rebel act during their adolescene. The teenagers will try to find their identity during their adolescence. Therefore, they will try variety of life style. Some of the teenagers will try homosexuality because they lack of the guidance of the parents and they had not enough observation of religious believes.

Secondly, broken family also caused this problem. There are some teenagers grow up under a negative environment. The father hits the mother, the parents addicted of drugs or gambling, a stepmother abused the children…These problems will cast a spot in the life of the children. In the other hand, parents who always busy with their careers will neglected their responsibility upon their children. The parents don’t know the friends that their children associate with. They also don’t what their children do and where they go. Without guidance of the parents, the children associate with a few people. They involved in homosexuality under the effect and induce of their friends.

There are blame that the effect of mass media also contribute to this problems. There were some films or video which agree and agitate the freedom of sex favour and sex behavior, especially from foreign country, had encouraged the homosexuality. These films has also brought in negative culture such as hedonism. The teenagers who were immaturely will try to imitate the manner of the characters in the films so that they can be seem they practice more “up-dated” or “modern” lifestyle. The gays or lesbians also use internet and blogs to find their “groups”.

The problems of homosexuality will destroy the good culture of our country. The were variety of social problems occurred due to this problems. For example, fighting among the gays or lesbians to “grabs” their couples. This scene will destroy the fulture of the teenagers, even the future of the country because teenagers will be the leaders of the country in coming future. Therefore, there should be some effective steps to curb this problems. Now, Majlis Fatwa Kebangsaan had been forbidden “pengkid” or lesbian among Muslims. The person who was convicted will be charged in Syariah Court. However, the seem no steps had been taken to curb this problems among the “non-Muslims”. This was cricticly because the problems of homosexuality in our country cannot be curb effectively if just under the effort of an authority. The government should take more action s to resolve this problems.

A VISIT TO A BOOK EXHIBITION

Last year, when I was in upper sixth, Puan Juliana took our class to town to visit a book exhibition that was being held in the town hall. We left our school in a chartered bus and arrived at the town at about 9.00 a.m. There were forty of us including Puan Juliana and we were among the first visitors to the exhibition that morning.

As we entered I was taken aback by the sheer number of books on display. I have never seen so many books all together in one place before in my life. I felt thrilled to have the opportunity to take a look at these books on display. I was sure my classmates were equally thrilled.

Puan Juliana told us we had two and a half hours to browse among the books. We were not to fool around and if we wanted to buy any books we were to give it to her so that she could get a better discount. We all promised to behave. Next we plunged among the bookshelves and started to do what we had come for.

There were so many books on display. There were books on hobbies, computers, art and craft, machines and others of general interests. I was especially fascinated by the many books on nature. So I was more or less glued to this section browsing over the beautifully illustrated books of animals and plants. Before I knew it, one and a half hours had passed. I thought I had only an hour left to go over the rest of the exhibition.

I next came upon computers on display. There was a sizable crowd gathered but I managed to get in front to have a look. A man was demonstrating the capabilities of a computer. I was astonished at what the computer could do. So for a good an hour I was stuck there eyes glued to the video display.

Finally, I decided that it was time I had a cool drink. So I left the hall for a moment to do the thing. After a refreshing drink, I returned to the hall to meet the rest of my classmates. Puan Juliana was already waiting for us. One by one my classmates appeared. Some of them had books for Puan Juliana. I did not buy any book. So after all of us had assembled and Puan Juliana had purchased the books we headed out of the hall and into the bus.The bus started and we were on our way home. It had been a pleasant morning at the exhibition.

HOW TO SHOP WISELY

All of us, except for some very few, use money to buy what we need in this world. We do our shopping in various places. Sometimes we are satisfied with what we buy. Sometimes though we do not get our money’s worth and we feel cheated. To avoid being cheated we have to know how to shop wisely. Here are some suggestions on how to do it.

It is good practice to check the price of the goods first. Shops are required by law to display price tags for all items.. Goods that have no price tags are suspect and ought to be avoided. Also it is better if we compare the prices of the goods at various places. We will probably be shocked by the price differences. The money saved on finding the best deal is usually worth the time spent on it.

The expiry date of perishable goods should be checked. Items without expiry dates or that have expired should not be bought. It is silly to buy a cheap can of sardines at a much reduced price only to discover that the contents are inedible when we open it.

When buying something that has to be weighed, it is a good idea to witness the weighing ourselves. Also ensure that the needle reads zero when there is nothing on the balance. It is all too easy to be short-weighed..

Finally, when paying for things bought at the counter, it is good practice to make sure that the prices are correctly entered. Keep the receipt in case we want to return or exchange anything. Count the change after paying for what we buy. In this way we spend our hard-earned money wisely and not waste it.

It's just an information for Ms Wee:

The Hazards of Smoking and How to Reduce Pollution were Farahain's journal.
She posted by my e mail, because there was an error when she tried to post her journal.
Thank you.

THE HAZARDS OF SMOKING

THE HAZARDS OF SMOKING

I have to say that I am glad that I do not smoke, for evidence against smoking keep increasing. Smoking certainly is hazardous to health.

A regular smoker is always coughing or clearing his throut. This I observe is the obvious sign of a smoker. My brother, uncle and my friends who smoke all seem to have a perpetual cough. I hear them hacking away every now and then. They take cough drops and other medicines to counteract yhe cough but they do not succeed. The only solution for them is to quit smoking.

Pregnant mothers who smoke may give birth to smaller and less healthy children. So it is not a very intelligent thing to smoke, considering the risks that a smoker has. However intelligence is powerless in the face of constant bombardment of cigarette advertisements via the mass media.

My friends who smoke do not have enough stamina, as they say. They do play games, but I can see that they really do not have the staying power of non-smokers. They tire quickly and immediately after the game the first thing they reach for is a cigarette. Of course they are smart enough not to get caught smoking in school, but the teachers are no fools. Yellow teeth, yellow fingers and smelly clothes are sure signs of a smoker. Usually the teacher says nothing as long as the students do not smoke in school.

The hazards of smoking are obvious such as poorer health, persistent cough, lack of stamina, wastage of money and a possible quicker and more painful path to the grave all await the smoker.

HOW TO REDUCE POLLUTION

HOW TO REDUCE POLLUTION

The world that we live in now is badly affected by pollution. The rivers and seas are polluted also the air and land. Consequently the things we drink, breathe in and eat are all polluted.

This sad state of affairs do no good for our health and well being. Pollution is virtually destroying the place we live in which is earth. Ih pollution is allowed to go on and on we will surely destroy ourselves too. We ought to value our planet for it is only place we can live in. if we destroy it then we also finished.

Eliminating pollution completely is impossible. So it is important that we try to keep pollution to a minimum. There are many things that we can do to reduce it. The very first thing for everyone is yo stop dumping rubbish anywhere they like. Empty cans and bottles, sweet wrappers, plastic bags full of smelly stuff, dead animals, food are items that can be found in the rubbish dumps. Perhaps we could recycle the things we used instead of simply throwing them away.

Motor vehicles are a major cause of air pollution. They emit much exhaust fumes. In big cities this pollution has reached levels that pose a threat to the health of the city dwellers. The only way to reduce the number of vehicles on the roads. This is easier said than done for very few people would want to sacrifice the convenience of having one’s own transport.

Factories and industrial plants are largely responsible for pollution of the air, water and land. The waste they discharge into the rivers and land destroy both. The smoke they emit pollute the air. What they must do is to find ways to reduce their wastes. Also they they have to treat their wastes so that they are less harmfull. Then they have to find ways to reduce the smoke they emit. All these things are required if we are to see any reduction of pollution. At the rate things are going however, we see increase in pollution instead.

Weather we can really reduce pollution and thus save our planet is up to us. Pollute it more and we shall perish..

ANXIETY

Anxiety is the feeling that something unpleasant or dangerous is about to happen. When anxiety is a rational response to recognisable danger, it is not a problem. What makes life difficult is when this feeling anxiety intrudes on a person for no obvious reason. During such moment, the mind is filled with fearful thoughts and the body reacts as if it is in danger, with what is called the flight or fight response. For some people, unwanted anxiety occurs provoked by ordinary situations or places. This is called situational anxiety. For others, anxiety is a persistent background hum that is present almost all the time. This condition is called general anxiety disorder. When anxiety reaches a crescendo, a panic attack ensues. The suffer cringes in fear, trembling and sweating, strugling to breath, and often experiencing a sense of unreality or of imminent loss of consciousness. And it is embarassing because everyone you confide in will most likely says: ''Don't worry. There is nothing to be afraid of".

SAY NO TO DRUGS....

Many people do not understand why individuals become addicted to drugs or how drugs change the brain to foster compulsive drug abuse. They mistakenly view drug abuse and addiction as strictly a social problem and apt to characterise those who take drugs as morally weak. One very common belief is that drug abusers should be able to just stop taking drugs if they are only willing to change their behaviour. What people oftenunderestimate is the complexity of drug addiction-that it is a disease that impacts the brain and because of that, stopping drug abuse is not simply a matter of willpower.
Through scientific advances, we now know much more about how drugs exactly work in the brain, and we also know that drug addiction can be succesfully treated to help people stop abusing drugs and resume their productive lives. Drug abuse and addiction are major burden to society. Estimates of the total overall costs of substance abuse in the United States, including health and crime -related costs as well as losses in productivit, exceed half a trillion dollars annuanly.
What is going to happen if this thing still go on like this. There must be a clear limit for this thing. Effective solutions should be take to overcome this problem. People should always remember a thing that always say'' no to drugs''.

The Signs Of The Creator

Recently, our nation has been shocked by the praying mats that figuring a shape of praying person. This thing happens in three states which are Kelantan, Pulau Pinang, and Kedah. For the unbelievers, they think that this is just the work of moron. But as for me, I think this is the sign from the Almighty to remind all the Muslims to perform the ‘solat’.

This thing actually has happened years before but not in Malaysia. The first video that I’ve seen is in Indonesia. That video has turned into a big issue which causes a lot of arguments among the religious person. What I want to share is about how this has given the impact towards my friends and I. We saw the news on TV3. Actually we were kind a having fun time at McD when the news broadcasted. Suddenly all of us turned silence and focusing on that news. It’s not like we’ve never seen such thing like that, but this time it’s a bit shocking because this time it happen with 35 pieces of prayers mats. That night, all of us have a round table and discussing about what we just saw on the news. I’m wondering how many people out there really think that this is the sign from the creator? What were you think about this phenomenon? But as the natures of humans, not everyone will believe in what you believed. Watch this first and then think it yourself.

Illegal racers as scourage of Malaysian road.

How much trouble can you cause with a little motorbike? Well, in a hand of a Mat Rempit it can be a great cause of irritation to other users. Mat Rempit have annoyed the Malaysian nation with their reckless riding and total disgard for other road users. Malaysian bloggers have complained that Mat Rempit take over streets in housing estates as well as main roads in the city centre for their street races that can comprise up to 100 motorbikes.
They speed ,cut into lanes of other traffic users, create enormous amounts of pollution and noise and gather menacingly at traffic acting as if they own the roads. When they are not racing, they are attempting stunts in open roads in a dangerous and haphazard manner for fun that often result into fatal accidents. Such as accidents occur when they are trying to ride awy from the police, sometimes into on-coming traffic, and when failed stunts cause their bikes to fall over injuring or killing the rider and the pillion.
The Star newspaper reported that some desperate Mat Rempit who are in quick need of money are getting their girlfriends to provide 'sex service' to their friends. According to a former Mat Rempit, most of them are always on the lookout for money to buy drugs.
Is there any ways to prevent this problem to become more worse. Of course they are. Effective ways must be take at the correct time to bring back the good image on the Malaysia road system.

Longhouses

In Sarawak, the dominant tribal groups are the Dayak. Tribal people live in longhouses. There are the Iban (Sea Dayak), and the Bidayuh (Land Dayak). All of Malaysia’s tribal people feel a strong spiritual connection to the rainforest. The Iban grow rice and fruit, and hunt and fish. The longhouse is the very centre of communal life in Sarawak. There are over 4,500 longhouses in Sarawak. These communal houses, built on stilts, may contain up to 100 individual families in separate 'apartments' built under one long roof.
The rainforest is home to 27 ethnic groups each with own distinct language and culture. The real longhouse experience begins with the journey upriver. River travel in a perahu - a shallow draught canoe - affords you the pleasure of seeing Sarawak at its best. Longhouses differ slightly from tribe to tribe but share the same basic characteristic. The Iban are the largest tribe in Sarawak and one of three native peoples whose past includes the practice of headhunting.
Heading upstream, your boatman will take you along idyllic waterways with white pebble beaches, under the over-arching branches of tropical hardwoods, whose dense emerald foliage allows through only a dappling of sunlight. As you meander upstream, and your boatman punts through the river's shallows, kingfishers glide past, hornbills fly overhead, and local children dive from the riverbank into the cooling waters. Longhouse inhabitants are very well known for their hospitality. It is normal for people to just turn up and expect to be invited in by the headman (gifts are expected in return). As you arrive at the longhouse, it is customary to be greeted by the longhouse maidens and young men performing traditional dances and playing ceremonial gongs. At the entrance to the longhouse there is a wooden arch with small baskets made of palm leaves hanging from the top. Offerings such as a few coins or a cigarette are occasionally put into the baskets and help keep evil spirits out of the longhouse. From the moment you step inside the longhouse you will be treated as an honoured guest. Visitors will be offered a glass of tuak - the very palatable local rice wine. Or more often than not, several glasses of tuak will be offered to wash down a banquet of local delicacies. Then your hosts will start beating the gongs. This is the cue for the traditional dance, usually the Ngajat. The inspiration for the graceful movements of the dancers comes from the effortless flight of the hornbill, Sarawak's emblem. Then your newfound friends will enthral you with stories of Sarawak's legendary past. Usually a longhouse party lasts all night. As the sun is eclipsed by the moon, weary from your day's travel, and a night of dancing and feasting, retire to the ruai- a covered verandah - for a good night's sleep.

PUNAN GIRLS IN SARAWAK

The government has made public a shocking report on sexual abuse of Penan girls and women by logging camp workers in Baram, Sarawak.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister Shahrizat Abdul Jalil yielded to pressure from civil society groups to investigate the claims.
The report was handed over to PKR women’s chief Zuraida Kamaruddin on Sept 8, almost a year after media accounts of rape of Penan girls by loggers first appeared.
The report lists at least eight cases of sexual abuse of Penan girls and women by logging camp workers. The report said several of the victims were schoolgirls as young as 10.
Local NGOs claim these documented cases were only a small fraction of the total number of cases of sexual abuse.
The ministry’s National Task Force was commissioned by the cabinet on Oct 8 last year, to investigate the claims.
The ministry’s team visited Long Item, Long Kawi, Long Luteng, Long Belok, Kampung Ugos, Jambatan Suai, Niah between Nov 10 and 15 last year.
Shahrizat’s predecessor, Ng Yen Yen, had promised a transparent investigation. The team was led by director-general of the Department of Women’s Development, Dr Noorul Ainor Mohd Nor.
The team was made up of several federal ministries, Sarawak government agencies and NGOs, Women’s Aid Organisation and Women’s Centre for Change, Penang.
The team concluded that “allegations of sexual abuse of Penan girls and women by outsiders dealing with the Penan, including logging company workers and merchants, did indeed take place”.
The protracted delay in releasing the report opened Shahrizat to accusations of trying to cover up the scandal which displeased powerful logging companies in Sarawak.
Shahrizat (right) had previously refused to comment on the delay and instead invited “interested parties” to view the report at her ministry’s office in Putrajaya.

Native Customary law system prevailing in Sarawak is peculiar to our State. What is "native customary law" must be determined with reference to the laws of the State, and what constitutes "native customary rights" over land must also be determined with reference to the relevant State laws.
Native Customary Rights to land is also a system which recognises the rights of the native community to occupy and use land which by law belongs in the old days to the Crown, but nowadays by reason of Section 12 of the Land Code, belongs to the State.
The system of native customary rights over land had evolved over near one and half centuries; since 1841 when the Rajah James Brooke decided to make his first pronouncement pertaining to Land. Through this process of evolution, native rights to land were recognised, under certain conditions spelt out in the various Proclamations and Orders made by the Rajahs and subsequently, in various legislations passed by the Council Negeri (now Dewan Undangan Negeri of Sarawak).
As such, land occupied by natives under native customary tenure, are untitled i.e. there is no document of title to show ownership. Whether a native has rights to such land would depend on whether he or his forefathers fulfilled certain requirements under the laws prevailing at the time which rights to the land were said to have been created.
Native customs which could create rights over land had been modified in Sarawak by laws made by the Rajahs and subsequently by the Council Negeri. At this juncture, it ought to be pointed out that in all legal systems, indigenous rights may be modified or extinguished by legislative or executive action. Professor Douglas Sanders in his Paper on "Indigenous And Tribal Peoples: The Right To Live On Their Own Land" (presented at the 12th Commonwealth Law Conference held in Kuala Lumpur in September, 1999) stated;
"A leading Australian constitutional text summarises the basic rule from the Mabo decision as follows:
The indigenous population had a pre-existing system of law, which along with the rights subsisting thereunder, would remain in force under the new sovereign except where specifically modified or extinguished by legislative or executive action."
It must be emphasised that the evolution of our laws on native customary rights over land over more than 11/2 centuries was a peaceful and orderly process, without any serious discord amongst the various communities in Sarawak or between them and the Government, and has enabled the Government of the day to improve the social and economic position of these communities and bring about overall development and progress to the rural areas.

PESTA BENAK ( TIDAL BORE FESTIVAL IN MY HOMETOWN )

One of the main tourist main attraction to Sri Aman, Sarawak or Batang Lupar great river is a Tidal Bore or known as Benak by local Iban or Malay.
The benak of the Batang Lupar first becomes visible in the estuary region of Pulau Seduku. It reaches its peak as it passes the town of Sri Aman, 90km from the estuary. Along the banks of the town a tidal watching festival was inaugurated on the King Tide of 5th May 2001 - the Pesta Benak. This gave the local boatmen an opportunity to show their skills to tourists, surfing the bore in longboats. Prior to the event, several days were spent flushing crocodiles out of the river for the safety of tourists!
The benak continues its journey another 30km inland, ending near the small village of Engkilili.
For those who would like to see Batang Lupar Tidal Bore or Benak the best time for you to see benak is in month of May.
Welcome to Sri Aman the city of Bujang Senang and Benak...

Time to correct the imbalance

Last two weeks,i went to 1Malaysia seminar organised by the National Institute of Public Administration (INTAN).The speaker is Prof Datuk Dr Shad Saleem Faruqi, and he highlighted the unhealthy racial composition in the civil service.According to him,the lopsided racial composition of the civil service is the result of ignoring the provisions in the Federal Constitution that prohibit race discrimination. In my view, these provisions have been conveniently forgotten for obvious reasons. This sentiment which was once held solely by the non Malays is now increasingly being shared by more and more Malays as well. This is a positive and encouroging development that came into being after the last general elections. The civil service is an important instituition as it forms the backbone of the government in its servivce to the people of diverse ethnicity and must be seen to be fair and independent. It is vital that its racial composition reflects of the country for a healthier, impartial and more professional service to the people. The racial imbalance is not healthy and must readressed as failing to do so may have far reaching implications on the peace and harmony in the country. In fact this lopsided racial composition in the civil service, including public universities and other government controlled instituitons, can be said to be main contributing factor to the deteriorating race relations in the country and the fundamental cause of many socio political ills that plague us today. The Federal Constitution is very clear in providing for the special status of the Malays and other bumiputra groups from Sabah and Sarawak and it equally guarantees the legitimate interests of the other races in the country. It further stipulates that job opportunities and promotions in the public service should be awarded fairly to all deserving Malaysians.Of late, the effects of this monopolisation of the civil service by a single ethnic group have been manifested in the many unhealthy incidents that have shocked the nation in recent times. The civil service is seen to be a Malaysian instituition and any action taken by its staff against non malays is perceived to be racially biased ,which may not be the case in many instances. We have come a long way since independence and it is time to regard all citizens as equal, with equal opportunities to serve the nation without discrimination.Unless we tap the potential of all based purely on merit, there is no way we can move forward in today's highly competitive global community. We must believe and propagate that belief to all around us that what brings us together as Malaysians is far stronger that what pulls us apart.i hope that my opinions are not offencing others. This is just my personal views.

Budget 2010. 1Malaysia, Together We Prosper.

"1 Malaysia, Together We Prosper"

Our Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has recently theme the new fresh Budget 2010 as "1Malaysia, Together We Prosper". I know this just now by 'accidentally" watching TV3 news at KKM's cafe. The 10th Malaysia Plan will be filled as much as RM191.5 billion, a quite small number for a foundation for our new economic model.

There will be three main strategies in this new budget, which are driving the country into a high income economy, ensuring holistic and sustainable development, also focusing on the well being of the rakyat. These strategies should come with a great enforce of implementation from our very own government - Malaysia. It is hard to drive a country into a high income economy but it never be a possible thing to do. This is because, even we have so much rural areas in our country, in the downtown area but we still have the center of economic growth such as Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru. Who knows, someday we can be like Singapore or much more develop than them. In order to ensuring the holistic and sustainable development, again, it all depends on the way our 'man' govern the country. Government really should focus on the well being of their rakyat as rakyat was the strongest medium to bring the country to another level, especially youth.

In this new budget, there will be greater rewards for students who excel in their study, for example, 30 National Scholarships for the creme de la creme students, strictly based on merit. Conversion of PTPTN loans to scholarships for students who graduate with 1st class honours degree will be given to students starting 2010. The greater news for 'onliners' is that, there will be offer of netbook package, including free broadband service, to university students for RM50 per month for 2 years. It is best to use this offer in university such as UiTM, because they got not much coverage of Wireless Fidelity (WiFi). This offer will worth for them.

The Budget also includes the Permata programme in it, as stated in the Budget that it emphasise on early childcare and education, including the gifted child programme. It is important, for me I think it is best to invest the budget in this programme due to its benefits that our youngsters can get. Likewise, education is the most fundamental yet so very important in the era of globalisation nowadays. In addition, this programme also joined the gifted child in it. It is good to hear that these special kid will be treated as great as normal child.

I stress much on education matter so I would like to conclude on my view that, that government should implement those billions on education wisely. As education is very important for us to stay as united 1Malaysia thus bring us to another level of country - develop country. As what our Prime Minister has enforced in 1Malaysia nation - Rakyat Didahulukan, Pencapaian Diutamakan or generally translated as "People First, Achievements Prioritized".

A cruel rape case

I want to share a news I’ve just read on a school girl being raped so severely, which I think is a very serious case.

"Korean young girl Na-Young beaten and raped"

One morning on her way to school, Na-Young was dragged to a public toilet by a 50 year old strange man. He was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, told by the police department which handled her case.

l. Beaten and strangled:
He punched her face and stomach when she refused to take off her clothes. He then strangled her neck to make her pass out but when he didn’t succeed he held her head under the water of toilet seat until she did pass out. It was assumed he did this to make it easy to force himself on her. Up till this point, she was still conscious, said Na-Young when she was asked to describe everything she could remember. It was also confirmed by physical evidences.

2. Violently raped and sexually tortured:
When she fell unconscious he made held her against the closed toilet seat cover then had penetrative intercourse (anal and vaginal). He then performed the same penetrative pistol action to her right ear. Her head and her ear were crushed against the water tank each time of his pistol action. Her right shoulder was also dislocated as a result.

3. Injury of internal organs and a rupture:
Thinking he had to destroy the evidence by cleaning her inside out of his semen, he pushed her face down in the toilet again to wash her ears. He then used a pump (used for blocked toilets) on her via anus in attempt to extract his semen which lead to severe rupture of her large intestine where he, this time, tried to push the organs back inside her using the long stick of the pump. During this process, he damaged her genital organs completely.

4. Attempt to destroy the evidences and cover up the crime scene:
He tried to clean her up. Flushed her blood and other traces of her organs down the toilet, washed her and made her sit upright but decides to have another intercourse. When he was finally done and satisfied, he ran away leaving Na-Young to die. Don’t you feel just sorry for her? and don’t you just want to beat the old guy?

Right now in Korea the citizens are having a "Candle Protest" aka "Chot-Bul-Shi-Wee" on October 10th about this case to help Na-Young and her family. For those of you who have been mistaken about Na-Young, "She is alive (Thank God) not dead" I don’t know why, but I think it’s better if she is not alive, since, if it was me, I cannot bear carrying the burden that had been given by the crazy old man. And the girl is just a schoolgirl.

Plus, I've just read an article about this cruel man saying that he is in jail EXERCISING(?) to get back to the world and revenge. He said "I will be exercising in my jail cell, I'll see you then." He complained about how 12 years is TOO long for him and he tried to get a lawyer to solve this problem. But i think 12 years is just too short. I'm also not up for death penalty, since it seems like an easy way out. Retaliation should not be as simple as a death penalty. The guy should should suffer for what he did, like what the girl had suffer. He should be left in pain, lets say, for example, getting his 'thing' chopped off and getting his organs pulled out?

It’s no doubt that he will lose in the name of law. If he wins the case, I don’t know what to say anymore. I hope the girl is going to be alright.

A harsher punishment for child abuse

Child abuse is the physical and/or psychological/emotional mistreatment of children. Most child abuse occurs in a child's home, with a smaller amount occurring in the organizations, schools or communities the child interacts with. There are four major categories of child abuse: neglect, physical abuse, psychological/emotional abuse, and sexual abuse.

Why am I talking about child abuse suddenly? Today I have come across an article in the star online, stating that the Wanita Gerakan backs the proposal by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Shahrizat Abdul Jalil that child abusers should face harsher punishment.

I think that this is a very good proposal, considering the current punishment Under the Children’s Protection Act, offenders can only be sentenced to a maximum of two years’ jail or fined RM5,000 or both, while the number of child abuse cases had steadily risen to 278 child abuse cases from September 2007 to October 2008, according to the social welfare department statistics. This number is considered high, and obviously, it does not show the actual number of cases, as most of it may not be reported to the authority. It is proven by the number of the statistics, that the punishment only does little to help alleviate the problem.

This is not fair, as a lot of problem can rise from this issue, such as the child could be psychopathic, the increase of juvenile cases and making the child mental development becomes retarded. There also had been cases where the child that had been mentally and physically abused by their parents, killed the whole family.

Furthermore, the problem does not only arise from an abused child, it also comes from the child abuser. When they are only being punished lightly, they might not learn, and continue to do some more dangerous problems, such as murdering or hurting the child or others. This can bee seen in a recent case, whereby, a man with a history of child abuse and assault, killing a women and burying her with cement in a concrete staircase. I wonder what more violent cases will be conducted by a child abuser.

Thus, it is important that the problem to be curbed, with a harsher punishment, to give awareness to the society to not do child abuse.

One MALAYSIA !!

" I never really liked the Malays. It's not that I dislike them, it's just that I never really thought about them," is a line taken from a film called Sepet. The question now is, is art imitating life? The credo of 'protecting your own'  and the problem of non-Malays misunderstanding the concept of Malay supremacy, have become a source of tension between Malays and non-Malays and the lack of national unity among the citizens. So, is ONE MALAYSIA is the answer to correct these misunderstanding and inculcate national unity? From the time our Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak announced this concept, it has been thrown around a lot on what it means, and many have expressed confusion over that ONE MALAYSIA is. At the same time, it also attracted many criticism. Some said One Malaysia means there is only one race in Malaysia while others said it just another slogan that will soon vaporise into thin air. Actually, One Malaysia goal is to preserve and enhance unity in diversity. However, Malaysians are tend to interpret it differently. The non-Malays would like to interpret it to mean that from now on, all will be equal. But the crucial thing is, I don't think that the Malays are interpreting it in that way. Many want to take One Malaysia as the end of Malaysians referring to each other as Malay Malaysian, Chinese Malaysian, Indian Malaysian and so on. It is a very complex thing.

Since society is increasingly plural, each group wants to maintain their own cultural purity, and that's why assimilation as a policy is not acceptable in this country. With Malaysia's current state, I think it is difficult to really embrace and experience unity in diversity especially when the beauty of multicultural Malaysia is often eclipsed by politics, when everything along race and religion turns political and played by politicians for political mileage. Nowadays, it has become a rarity to find Malays, Chinese, Indians and other races sit together in a coffee shop or Mamak stall. It is more common to see the Malays sitting together at one table and the Chinese with their own kind at another table and so on.  If we look at our society today, we tend to be more racist compared to ten to twenty years ago. In addition, in context of politicians, whether they are in the government or the opposition, they tend to to raise political issues based on race, which is not healthy anywhere in the society.

Basically, One Malaysia is a responds to deterioration in ethnic relations in the country that has been happening over the last three decades. One Malaysia therefore, is an attempt to reduce polarisation, to create a sense of oneness, as the world itself suggests- creating a feeling of togetherness. It also an attempt to emphasise the importance of one people, one nation. I can see that One Malaysia as a long journey. One Malaysia is a process that would evolve and be shaped by the input from the people themselves. So, what would be the responsibility of Malaysians for the nations now? Perhaps that we need to do is look at the bigger picture and priorities national interest rather than dwell on the issues that are counter-productive to racial integration. The bigger picture is what is hoped from One Malaysia, which is to wipe out racial aspects of subsistence and support. Presently, One Malaysia represents hope; hope for unity. In my opinion, no citizens should be marginalised or victimised because of their race and religion. After all these years, do we still need to play the race card? We are already of one race. We are all part of human race. So, think about it. ONE MALAYSIA!! (^^,

My First Semester in UKM.,..

It is almost the end of my first semester. There are lot of experience that I get in terms of academics, friendship and my social life. I never live afar from my family. So, this is my first time living without my family behind me. At first, it is quite difficult for me to cope my life here, in UKM. But, time passing by..I manage to cope it finally.

On my first lecture in Faculty of Law, I feel lost with all the input that given to me. I cannot understand it! Every end of my day, I will call my mother or my 'beloved friend' to share what am I going for the whole day. They make me feel calm and support me by saying that, " You can do it! Never ever give up,dear". That is what make me strong and having spirit to continue my life here.

Day by day, I met many friends who always sitting beside me. We study, read, run, walk, and laugh together. How nice the moments. Thanks God giving an opportunity to have an experience in this field. I admit that studying the law is very difficult. It is need full commitment or else we will totally lost!

On the second month I am here, I manage to get involve with college activities. Before that, I fell very lonely and my life was too plain! Because I am just go and back from faculty and then staying in my room until tomorrow morning. That was made me crazy. And after all the activities that I joined, I feel very happy and enthusiastic!

But, at the same time I have to balance my academic also. I am still have a lot of assignment to complete, the tutorials, and also my reading. Sometimes, I feel that 24 hours is not enough for me. But, by hook or by crooks, I am still have to finish everything perfectly.

Having the PBL(Problem Base Learning) make me very stress. This was my first time and also my friends to get this assignment and complete it independently. We spent too much time for that thing. But, at the end of our presentation I thought it was very worth and I learn many thing from that job.

Another experience that I learn is from my English for Law course. We manage to make a survey about ' The Emotional Abuse in Marriage'. We want to give an information for people out there about the abuse that become increasing nowadays. Gratefully, we got very supportive respondents who gave us lot of help for our research. And one of our respondent is a foreigner. With her big eyes, sharp nose, curly hair, I really admire her. She is one of the best lawyer from her country. Surprisingly, she gave her opinion about our law in Malaysia. She said that our law is not really well manage but still can be proud in terms of the administration system. And we make a short talk with her. It was very intersting to get know her in her carrier.

Now, the final exam is around the corner. I am really hope that I can score it for this semester. Although it is a big challenge for me, but I know I can do it. And to all my friends, I wish all of you a very good luck and till we meet again on next semester!

.dyslexia.

hi!

do you know about dyslexia? for your information, dyslexia can be said as learning problem that makes people hard to spell, read and write . it occurs because the brain mixes up the letter and words. basically, this problem can be detected at the young age. however, having this problem doesn't mean that your ability to learn is below average. it is not intellectual disability. in fact, many people with dyslexia is intelligent but not able to read well may cause other problems.

until now, there is no finding about the specific cause of this problem. however, this problem often runs in families. in other words, dyslexia can be said as genetic disorder. there are many symptoms of dyslexia among children. they may talks later than expected, being slow to learn new words, has difficulty in rhyming words, slow or inaccurate reading, problem linking letter with sound, confusing short word such as 'at' and 'to' and has difficulty in distinguishing between similar sounds in words, for example 'animal' and 'aminal'. besides, they also may reversing the shapes of written letters such as 'd' for 'b', therefore they also tend to write backward like 'pit' for 'tip'.

there is no specific treatment for this problem as it is lifelong problem. however, early treatment during childhood is needed to ensure that they can live like normal people. the basic treatment consist the educational tools to enhance their ability to read. parents may teach how letters are linked to sound to make words, listen and repeat instructions and ask them to read loudly in order to improve their confidence. the most important thing is the support from their family, children, teachers and the surrounding.

i think that's all can i share for this moment. for those who has extra informations about this problem, you may share it here too! :)

"Hidden Agenda", politic matter?

"Hidden Agenda", my next post in this journal. Not really a topic to talk about but just for one to read, as
info maybe. Hidden Agenda is a broader subjective matter, so I will bring it to more narrower matter which is the
hidden agenda of organisation in college, UKM to be exact.

In every college, there must be an organisation or more, that has this hidden agenda. Some questions arise
such "Why this organisation build up?" "What the purpose?" "What would I get from this?" and so on.
Recently I joined an organisation in my college, called Karisma Jasa, as I was chosen as one of them. It was
a mere political sub-organisation for students. There were like 80+ of us in this college that has been chosen as
Karismarians. Every night they got meeting till late midnight, no-ending discussion, just like our PBL.

At my observation, it was fun but full of stress. It was really a campus lifestyle but if only meeting for many
hours without a promising outcome, I think it will be nothing. Few days ago, they have the chance to meet the
"genius" of law in Malaysia, Datuk Seri Utama Dr. Rais bin Yatim.

For me, being a member of this organisation gave me benefits, I think. It is better than nothing.
Things regarding politics is non-argued matter because it will never end. Undergraduate students, law students, involving in this mere political matter is common, even if they are not so obvious in the eyes of society. I think instead of bring up the AUKU 1974, but still involving students in this mere politics organisation, it is something weird or wrong somewhere there.

Whatever it is, every organisation have their own pro's and con's. Either bad or good, depends on how we think they are. Hidden Agenda - politic matter? Lets take few moments to think about it, and few more moments to think how far the political matter affect undergraduate.
